Question: What did Christ bleed to obtain?
As Christians, we tend to believe that the death of Christ on the cross accomplished only one main thing; our forgiveness or justification. While it is true that Christ died to purchase our forgiveness, he also died to purchase our holiness, a zeal for good works, and to secure a desire in us for world evangelism. The Scriptures will show this to be true:

1. Christ bled to purchase our holiness.  The Bible clearly teaches that Christ gave himself for our holiness.
"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word." (emphasis added)  Ephesians 5:25-26 (NKJV). We are told "For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness" 1 Thess 4:7 (NKJV).  Jesus gave himself to make us a holy people who grow in love for righteousness and grow in hatred for sin.

2. Christ bled that we might have a zeal for good works. In Titus 2:14, we read "who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. (emphasis added)

3. Christ bled that we might have a desire for global evangelism.  Every believer is called to go and proclaim the Gospel (Good News) whether it is across the street or across the sea.  "As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world" John 17:18.  In Revelation 5:9, we read "....And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation," (emphasis added). God redeems sinners from all over...."every tribe and tongue and people and nation".

Are you holding back from giving Christ all that he bled to obtain?

Proclaiming the Good News of Salvation

"Have you no wish for others to be saved? Then you're not saved yourself, be sure of that!"
—Charles H. Spurgeon
"Our Saviour has bidden us to preach the gospel to every creature; he has not  said, “Preach it only to the elect;” and though that might seem to be the  most logical thing  for us to do, yet, since he has not been pleased to stamp the elect in their foreheads,  or to put any distinctive mark upon them, it would be an impossible task for us to  perform; whereas, when we preach the gospel to every creature, the gospel  makes its  own division, and Christ’s sheep hear his voice, and  follow him." Charles H. Spurgeon

Exposing the Unfruitful Works of Darkness

“Christians who walk in the light should be involved in exposing the dark and fruitless work of abortion.  It is a dark and barren work, and we are called to expose it.” —John Piper
